Jabra, a Danish electronics consumer brand, has a strong history in Bluetooth headsets for the telecommunications market. With the success of its true wireless earbuds, Jabra has now focused on call quality with its latest offering, the Connect 5T. These wireless earbuds prioritize both audio and calls, boasting 6-mic call technology, active noise cancellation (ANC), multipoint technology, and call customization settings.
Design and comfort are similar to Jabra’s Elite 5 earbuds, with the Connect 5T being an exact replica in terms of size, weight, and materials. The buds are wrapped in sturdy plastic with IP55 protection against dust, sweat, and heavy water splashing.
The charging case is compact and composed of the same materials as the buds, with strong magnets to keep the buds docked in their charging slots and the lid shut tightly. However, comfort remains an issue with Jabra models, with the multifunctional button being an impractical design choice that pushes the buds further into your ears with every press.
The Connect 5T’s control scheme consists mostly of physical buttons, with strong tactility and accurate response to intended commands. The buds also feature Alexa and Google Assistant voice activation, with Jabra’s six-mic array demonstrating great intelligibility and precision in responding to long-winded inquiries. However, wear detection only seems to work one way, with auto-pause initiated upon taking off the buds, but not resuming playback when placing them back on your ear.
Sound quality on the Connect 5T is warm and rich, with Jabra’s dynamic soundstage delivering well-balanced frequencies and an emphasis on bass. The 6mm drivers handle heavier bass tracks without producing any distortion, while the customizable EQ and preset options enhance sound in different ways. The buds support aptX, SBC, and AAC codecs, performing well across compatible devices, but do not include lossless codecs like LDAC or spatial audio.
